I've got some areas on a boat where you can see the backside (unfinished side) of the fiberglass. It's has a rough texture (attracts spider webs and dirt dobbers) is a bit ugly and I am wanting to paint it to make the area more visually appealing and easier to clean.
I've read some articles where a guy used 100% acrylic latex on a boat with good results. Would Oil based be better?
Anyone have experience or ideas on how to dress up these areas?
Thanks...

If your problem area is on the outside of the vessel (finish) use only a two part epoxy paint, with suitable primer first. Of course everything depends on what you can live with, how much you are going to use the boat ect. If you are wanting a great looking boat finish, then use the epoxies I mentioned. If you are talking about bilge areas, ect., you can get by with a paint from INterlux call BRIGHTSIDE. It is a one part paint specifically used in these areas. Tight Lines.

Go with the AWLGRIP for any exterior work you want to look nice. There is a guy in Rockport off of business 35 who does good work for a fair price. I can't remember his name, but his shop is just north of Tackletown on the right hand side. His shop looks like an old house with several boats parked outside. I had a 98 Shallow Sport touched up with AWLGRIP and it has held up nice. From what I understand, it is the same stuff that most of the large yachts are refinished with. If you end up going with AWLGRIP, do not use any wax as it will eat away at the surface. All this stuff needs is soap and water.

Thanks for the info...I've looked it up, it comes in the color I wanted anyway and it's a lot cheaper than topside paint...
Cool...
