I once came in from a trip, and walked over to the little pier adjacent to the boat launch at oak thicket. There were two guys fishing on the little pier on bottom with live water dogs. In the time it took me to drink a cold one..they caught three keeper catfish and two bass about 16" long, and this was like 11:00 in the morning. I am not a pier fisherman, but was kinda impressed! And yes, they relunctly released the bass. LOL

The pier at Oak Thicket is really the only place I can think of that you can get to easily. I lot of folks use the water dogs. You might also want to try punch bait - Sureshot or Danny King's.
See previous thread on fish cleaning rules! :D
Good luck!

Actually, you'd probably do well to wait for some cold weather. The water at Fayette is pushing 100 degrees all over the lake right now.

Would end of september or october be good? I know when it starts getting real cold those fish like to run up into those warm water discharges.

I would lean more to Oct. That lake stays hot a loong time. They don't really get into the discharge until later Feb
