Rear axle broken on 59 late Sat night on the run back from Rockport. Had the trailer limped in to Kroll's Marine in Rosenburg. This am they told me that it could be 3-4 weeks to get a replacement axle. Does this sound right?
I looked on the Trailer Wheel and Frame website and it looks like they can custom build a new axle in a 1 day turnaround. Has anyone had this done before?
I had an axle built by Sportsman a year ago. Ordered it on a Tuesday and picked it up Thursday. Not sure if TWF builds galvanized axles. Sounds like Kroll's is putting you inline behind previous customers, as they should.

Not sure as to why you need one custom built, if its a standard trailer you should be able to get one all ready made. Do you know the lenght? I would be willling to bet Sportsman will have one that will fit. Pickup the axle, springs (if needed) clamps, and what ever else is needed ( dont forget the grease gun)and a big floor jack, some method of cutting the old stuff off (4 1/2 inch grinder will work great). Could have it done in about an hour or so. Im bet the place its at will let ya use a bit of power.
As for the wait...i agree, your placed in line with eveyone else. its only fair.

Thanks for the info. BTW, I didn't expect to go to the front of the line, they just told me that it would take that long to get a new axle in from their suppliers. That's what sounded out of line to me.
Thanks again.
Check with your local boat repair shop. I used to work for one in High School and that was my job, rebuilding broken axles. Two day turn around.

You might want to check with McClain if Sportsman can't help you out. McClain made me up a pair of replacement axles in a day. They are just off I10 east inside the loop.

Call the trailer mfg. They more than likely have one in stock.
