I just purchased a new (to me) boat and I want to finally put a receiver hitch on my “99” Ford Ranger 4WD with extended cab. I see lots of options for either Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch models, type IIIs and IVs, square tube and round tube. My truck has the towing package, wiring harness and transmission fluid radiator. I see that Hidden Hitch makes a class III/IV round tube hitch that is rated for 1000 lbs more than some of the Draw Tight square tube models and the installation instructions indicate 10 to 15 minutes installation time.

Anyone have any comments or experiences with either of these models or can you suggest a Gulf Freeway (Houston-Galveston) dealer that you like?

Find your best do-it-yourself price then call a U-haul hitch place and get a price for the same rated hitch from them installed. Usually about $20 difference and the install is done. First time I ever saw a drill press that worked upside down. Rolled it under my truck and drill a couple 1/2" holes really quick. That was 11 years ago and I can't tell you how many time I have wished I had one of those.

You really should not need a class 4 hitch on a Ranger truck.
