Anybody ever install electric fans on their SUV. I installed the Summitt duel electric fans and my motor surges up and down. The fans cycle with AC compressor and the engine will surge with the AC compressor. I can turn the AC off and the engine will settle down. Sometimes it will not surge with AC on. What else could be causing the engine to surge. It is not showing any trouble codes. Thanks

The electrical load of the fans is loading down your alternator. An alternator under full load can soak up about 5 horsepower, which is plenty to cause the motor to drag down. The engine computer then feeds it more fuel to maintain idle speed, and you get the surging.

Its a 92 GMC suburban. I drove it this morning and it was fine for the first few stops and then it started to surge it does it when it is at idle. What size alternator do I need to go with and is there anything else that needs to be upgrade with the alternator change?
