Will be replacing my Aquasport with something that can get across Jones Lake with out hitting every reef and am getting serious about a 21' Polar. #1 criteria for a new boat is DRY (my wife does NOT like to get wet!). Any wisdom out there?

I went to MarineMax to look at the Polars and they talked me into the Seahunt 186. I've been told that they are a better boat by several, but who knows. The Seahunt 186cc is deffinitly a dry ride and is smooth in rough water.

I own a 17 ft. Polar Saltwater Flats series. Even though it's only a 17, it is 8 feet wide and very stable on the water. It handles chop very well and is suprisingly dry. Every once in a while you will get a little spray if you take rough water too fast.

Also, when anchored, the 8 ft beam really makes it stable. Very little rocking.

Since I put the Jackplate on, I can go across Jones, Chocolate, Bastrop, Christmas, etc with ease.

I have the 90 Johnson and can run @ 45mph down the intercoastal with 2 men and gear. Alone, I've managed 53 mph. Of course, this was according to my electronics (some margin for error)

If I had it to do over again, I might get the 19-21 ft. but then it would not fit in the garage, lol.

I'd definately repower with a 90hp 4 stroke if I could.

Mine is a '98 model and I plan on keeping it for another 10 years or so....

Hope this helps.

Funny Seahunt... I went to MarineMax and they steered me to the Polar. After the last boat show, my preference was Sea Hunt. The Polar is a different boat, but the wide gunnals and beam were a selling point. More options for the money in the 20'-21' range.
