I was very disappointed a while back when I wanted to buy a new curado super free. To me, that was the best reel for the money that I have ever fished. I am pretty new to the board, and this may have come up at that time, but I'll ask anyway. Why did shimano stop production of the green curados? Is one of the new models comparable? I didn't want to spend $200 on a new curado, so I got the old one off of ebay. I've heard various explanations, but none seemed to satisfy me, and they were all different. Just figured I could get it from the horse's mouth here.

Also,
I just bought a new TLD 15, and am looking forward to seeing how it handles the kings. My only worry, like on a previous thread, is the plastic looking handle lock. A buddy has the 25, and that handle screw with the other locking screw looks much sturdier. I'll check the other thread for a reply on whether main gear assembly is interchangeable between the 15 and 25.

It's business. If the models never changed why buy a new reel? Shimano would say that as technology and engineering improve new models are introduced............which of course always cost more! :D

BTW the new Curados are better but maybe not $60. to $80. better.

The 100 series reels do not have HEG gearing.
