Thought I would just through this out there for the heck of it. I am happy to see that Shimano has taken an interest in this website to answer questions that Shimano users have. The fact that a manufacturer would take on questions directly from the users on an open forum goes to show you the dedication that Shimano has in keeping their customers happy. When most manufacturers wont even give you the time of day, Shimano is not sweeping their customers out the back door but instead answering them directly and in front of everyone and providing the customer service to back it.
I bought my first Shimano, a B100-MAG back in about 88 or 89 for bass fishing and fell in love with it. Going from a Ambassador 5000's to a lighter reel that would cast farther, backlash less, hold drag just as good if not better and weighed less than half of the 5000 seemed like a miracle. Am still sold on them. Not one of my reels has ever been in the shop. Routine maintence has kept them running as smooth as the day I bought them.
I still have that B100-Mag and the rod that came with it. Just cant seem to part with it. This year I added two new Citicas 200 D as my workhorses along with a old Calcutta 250 that has tasted more saltwater than most sailors.
Thanks Shimano for great products. I would add great service, but I have never had to use it....knock on wood.....but from what I have seen, I am sure that it is top notch as well.
