Wanted to see if anyone else has had an issue with the Sustain. Love fishing with this reel the drag system is second to none on BIG trout. I am having a bad problem with the gears sticking after I hook a few fish. I mainly fish Baffin and have my reels professionally cleaned after every trip. The reel is good for the first hour or so and then becomes hard to reel after the first couple of fish. I have to go to my lower end back reel. Just getting real frustrated.
Thanks for any suggestions.

It sounds like the shop is using the icorrect lubricant on your reel or they have distrubed the wear pattern on the gears. Please send the reel to us or to one of the warranty centers for repairs.

I will. Printed form just a few mins. ago. Sending today. I use this reel a lot for the Texas Trout Series and have no idea why preforming so poorly. Thanks for your help.

I use that and the MG2500 in Baffin. I dose them down with Saltaway, let it sit for a minute or so, wipe off excess and spray the heck out of it with Reel Magic every night when in use. I don't take them in or open them up until they start grinding or sticking. Once you open the seal they better be fixed by an expert. I get 10 or so trips before they need to go in, sometimes more. If they got dunked I will wash them good with fresh water first.
Make sure you do not carry the reel in the rod holders while trailering anywhere. Just a few mile of road grime can ruin the best of reels.
That reel should not do that and I bet it is over greasing/oiling.

Thanks for the info and response. I do the same thing with saltaway etc. I am a fanatic with all my gear and this is the first reel that has this issue. My lower end Shimano spinning reels perform fine down there with the same treatment after use. I am going to send it in and see what can be done. Thanks again for all the input. You guys and gals are great.
