View Full Version : Sahara 2500 FB
I just bought a Sahara 2500 FB & the 1st day I used it the bail started acting up & will not close with the handle. it started out just being hard to close it with the handle & then started closing half way.
What is the quick fix for this? (Take it back to Academy?)

I'm not sure. Sahara's is all my cleints use and they are excellent reels and can with stand alot of abuse. I use reel magic before and after each trip, keeps them in good working order along with wipe downs.
For the money, they are awesome reels. Might have a fluke though. Wish I could help more, try returning it for a new one and see what you think.

The bail can be a little difficult to close if you do not use the proper momentum to close it by turning the handle. Being that the bail does not want to close properly leads me to believe that there is a problem with the bail. You can either return the reel to the dealer where it was purchased for an exchange or you can return the reel to us for repair.

I've got 2 Sahara 4000B's and absolutely love them. They are very durable and take a lot of abuse - they go to fresh water and salt water regularly.
I try to never use the handle to close my bail. I've just gotten into the habit of flipping it over with my hand after the cast. Saw somewhere on a fishing show that it reduces the wear and tear on the reel.

This actually helps reduce line twist more than anything.
