I love my gold chronarch I have had it for 6 years and clean it my self. I can really hum a topwater but I have one complaint. I have almost lost a handle twice and had to replace a handle because I could not get the two little screws out that hold the handle in place and had to drill it out. They seem too small in depth to keep from getting loose. I personally think it is a design flaw. The handle on the green curado does not seem to come loose and my personal feeling is that the chronarch's handle design is for asthetics not for practicallity. I would like to hear from Shimano about this little complaint and see what they say. Maybe I am being nit picky but it is a forum so lets talk about it.

Have you replaced the screws when you remove the handle assembly? The screws have Loc-Tite on them and it is only good for one application. You will either need to replace the screws or add more blue Loc-Tite after you remove the handle. This should prevent them from backing out or allowing the handle to fall off.

I like to lock them down tight on my personal reels and I have never had one come loose. We also make our own drivers to acheive the higher torque that is needed to tighten the screws correctly. The drivers are made by each individual technician and not sold by Shimano.

Any hardware store should have it. Make sure you pic up the blue Loc-Tite. DO NOT use the red or green color!!! You will not be able to get the screws back out after they are in.

Ask for Loc-Tite Thread Locker Blue 242. Home Depot / Lowes have it in the adhesive section.

I replaced my handles with the handles off a curado superfree- gold color, but have the plastic nut cover an 1 screw because of the problem you are experiencing, shipping and handles where $26.oo for both handles new nuts and coverspluss the 2 small screws, no more problems

Never had a prob with my 2. I take them apart often. When i put them back together i always put a heavy greese on all the small screws. I also use a screwdriver that fits the screws perfect. I never use any loctite and never had any of the screws back out.
