Dave,
I have had a spool on back order from Shimano for a Curado 200SF and apparently they aren't going to be available until the end of August when they do a small run of that part.

I believe they used to support their products for seven years before they became obsolete. I'm not sure of the policy now.

Maybe Shimano will comment on this thread? I think that's the idea of this forum.

The parts are on back order and we will be receiving them on the dates that you have been quoted. We are at the mercy of manufacturing for small parts. Please remain patient as we will fill all parts orders as soon as we receive the products.

It is true that parts for discontinued reels will not be available after 5-7 years. The Japanese model reel parts (Scorpion for example) stop when the model is discontinued. Then it will be remaining stock on hand until they are gone.

Got a surprise yesterday. One of the 4 2023's that I have on backorder showed up. Got one reel back to working now. If you had anything to do with it thanks B1. Still waiting on the other 3.

Shimano rocks.

Its amazing how that wire clip pops right in place when you get the shaft clip holder turned in the right direction. lol

I need a Curado 200 spool.

Check ebay for junked out curados. I have one that is in dire need of a clutch pawl. It got to where the reel wouldn't re-engage after free spool. Ruined a fishing trip. Now I carry a spare reel. I got around it by flipping the anti-reverse ratchet over so it rotates in the opposite direction as it is supposed to, but I think that will only work temporarily. If anybody has a couple of clunker curados 200's, I'll give $10-$30 each, depending on condition and parts that are still in good order. I'll still check ebay, but seeing as how those curado's were near bullet proof, most I've found are still in great working order. I don't want to pay for that. Hopefully I won't have to cannibalize my first one. Chokes me up just thinking about it...

Can you not get your hands on a clutch pawl?

Fishing Tackle Unlimited is a Shimano warranty station at both locations. Call them, they are good at fixing things.

I haven't seriously tried, but I've been looking for junk reels. Where can I order reel parts? I've cleaned and maintained my own reels for years, but this is the first time I've ever had to get a new part.

You can order directly from Shimano or you can pick it up from almost any local repair shop (Mike in Friendswood, FTU, David's Tackle Box, etc.).

Maybe you guys aren't getting it but Shimano is no longer making many, if any parts for reels five years old or older, FTU and others are running out of certain parts-on-hand. Unless you stock pile old Curados, Chronarchs , etc. eventually you will just pitch your reels and buy new ones.

We still offer parts for the Curado B and Chronarch A, 100SF and 100MG. We will have them for more than 5 years I believe due to the demand and the amount of reels sold. We strill have parts for the Baitrunner A model reels that have been out of production for more than 6 years now.

FTU is a warranty center for us and they should have all the parts you need. If they do not have it in stock then they can either order it for you or you can order direct from us.

What about the Curado 200SF? Otherwise that's good news Bantam1. I got the spool I ordered today that wasn't supposed to be out until late August.

Thanks.
