I am about to purchase a lowrance combination gps/depthfinder,not exactly sure yet which model number, but i definetly want a color unit.I am wondering if a person can mount the transom mount tranducer that comes with the unit inside the hull,or do you have to purchase a seperate thru hull transducer? If this is possible, what are the necessary steps for this application?

Go to www.airmar.com and you can get instructions. If you are mounting inside a normal fiberglass hull, yes, you can mount it inside. Just keep it level and pay close attention to keeping the air bubbles out of your epoxy or silicone bedding material.

It also helps if you sand the mounting surface smooth. Lightly sand the face of the transducer also.

You will lose the function of the water temperature sensor that is built into the transom mount transducer, along with some sensitivity, which is no big deal in the shallow bays. Why do you want to mount it inside the hull?

Yes you can. Ruff up the surface of the boat some and clean well. You can use clear silicone or 2 part epoxy to stick it down. Just make sure there is no air inbetween the hull and ducer and its straight.

Go with the mount in the hull. It's nice not to have sh#t hanging down!!!!!
