Hey folks, I'm in the process of rigging my boat for diving. I'm not yet certified but my wife is and she loves it. She is pushing hard to get the boat ready so we can dive from it next season. I'm trying to optimize the mods so they don't get in the way of fishing space. We will most likely be looking for other divers to join us next year. I thought I'd post to try and get a boat / crew member thread started so folks can keep track of who dives, spear fishes, etc...

Focus on two things, keep the space clear, no loose items and spend the time and money to have proper first aid materials and know how to use them.

Diving by yourself or with a group is "every man for himself" but when on your boat, you accept much more responciblity for the others you invite along.

Get O2 certified and carry oxygen, If you can afford it, consider a defib. machine.

Dive boats are more involved than you may be considering.

BrentJ,

Welcome to the woderful world of diving the Texas coast. I'll post my resume and my buddies boat we dive from later. Just make sure your first couple of dives that you do rig dives and do them with someone with experience to show you the ropes. You guys are in for a blast! We logged about 20 dives this past summer and got in some fairly decent spearfishing.

I'm available anytime, with a couple of days head notice, Have my advanced open water, cavern diver, rescue diver, and I am nitrox certified. (also took a first aid course) and started my divemaster course, but never finished it. I have done a couple hundred dives, (mostly in the ocean, some in a river and a couple in a few fresh watter cavern).
I love spearfishing and used to do quite a bit of freediving (mostly when I lived in miami)
