Well, the 1996 Johnson 130hp thats on my boat now is shot to hell and needs a rebuild. I just recently had it rebuilt last year and it's still has major issues. I didn't know what else to do but I have another motor that I may be getting from someone in a few weeks. It's a 2000 Yamaha with no controls. My question is Is there anyway to adapt the controls from my Johnson to work with the Yamaha, and if not, how expensive are controls anyway. I have no earthly idea about this and was just curious to know what I'm looking into spending. It's a 21ft Center Console Pro Master. Any help would be appreciated. Also, do I have to go to a Yamaha dealership for the controls are is there anywhere else I can check out?

You'll be better off with the yamaha box than trying to convert. 701 box runs about $250. Also need a ignition harness, key switch panel, shift and throttle cables and possible gauge harnesses. You can use your old tach and speedo, but the warning lights and such won't work.

I have a Yamaha shifter with the power trim button that is in like new condition.
You will need a wiring harness and a ignition switch.
Most shift cables are universal and I think your existing throttle and shift cables may work. Will take 40 bucks for it. In NW Houston. 713 823-9292

Omc style cables will not work. you'll need yamaha or morse/teleflex 33c, if you get the morse/tele. get the 33 supreme series. They are built similair to the yamahas, with a plastic teflon sleeve(very smooth).
