View Full Version : lil capn's new personal best
Lil capn managed to boat his biggest fish ever this weekend, courtesy of an invite by our resident catfish expert, medulla, and a friend. First run of the morning proves a strong fish, and we followed a pattern that would last throughout the morning. Hook up, then pass the rod to lil capn. Well, he got to experience some good drag stippage en route to landing a 20 inch hybrid striper. He was very concerned that I hold onto him because that fish was trying to pull him out of the boat! :D While holding the fish and posing for a picture, sure enough a bobber goes under. A few minutes of grunting and straining later, we have a double for the below pictures.
Had a great time that morning even with a fairly slow bite, and we all got to laugh constantly at Tim's narration of each and every fish fight. All of em were keepers, and all of em were big enough to need the net. http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/images/icons/icon6.gif Thanks again Joe!

I think we have a future tournament pro! I'm sure lil capn will remember that trip for the rest of his life! These are the moments that make a Dad that takes his kids fishin' special and unforgettable to his kids.

WTG, lilcapn now that there is someone reilable aboard to catch and report I will be paying better attention to the Conroe cats. Those hybrids are terrific fighters, congrats!
Hope you ain't talkin about me, cause I'm pretty well done with with catfishin for now. I'll still run some lines in the marsh when my boat gets finished up, and I'll probably make a jugging trip or three to Conroe whenever someone needs to stock a freezer... but I really only fish in freshwater during the spring time.
Plus, gas prices are getting too high to be making such a long drive now. :(

Just joking capn, I really enjoy the reports from you all. I guess I waited too long to fill my boat up for the soon to be great fishing on Livingston, that 50 gallon tank is gonna hurt! I'm going Saturday to check the hump for blues and whites. It was about this time of year in 06 when we had a great day. Maybe I'll have a good report?

It's a great park and the shad and cats are on the bulkhead very early in the morning, over by the big sign around the bend from the swimming area. It has teriffic facilities.
