Mark Mason and Chuck Dewey of Universal City P.D. fished with me today again. We started out fast and furious then someone flipped the switch and we had to hustle for our last 15 fish to knock out the limits.
I always have a blast fishing these gents and they are a riot in the boat. Thank You Gentlemen!
All fish were caught on DK's fishing wind blown lake points in 3-5 ft of water.
A fun day on the water but battling those winds can be challenging. Tommorow's trip outta be interesting if the rain holds out.

Well...what a differnece a day and 30 mph NNW winds make.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Rumaldo Aguire and his three boys today. They were unfortunate in previous guide enoucnters through out the years and I hoped to change that.
Wind made it very very difficult blowing harder than heck making staying on point difficult much less navigating. Windeiest day I have fished on Cally, honestly.
We worked our tails off finding scattered fish through wind protected areas through out the lake. Knew some good fish were on the nastiest wind blown points but safety was priority one.
We ended a hard fought day with 37 fish kept and around 45 or so caught.
I felt good about today's fish casue I knew we earned them and the boys had fun fishing. Didn't catch a slew of big ones or slay a bunch in one area or even have a double, but we earned our catch today and I ate some humble pie after catching 50 yesterday during a half day.
All fish caught in 3-5 ft of water near wind blown points on DK's.
I was just glad the boys had a good time after having some previous misfortunes fishing.

thanks Matt and Brad.
The majority of the fish we have been catching are still shallow, the bite should hold for a while. Just need some weather on the 21st to cooperate.
Days like today sure make you appreciate the good weather, catch em all over the place days.
Was supposed to go hit Dunlap tonight juggin for big boys...guess I'm getting old. Wind burned and worn out..two beers and i'll be out here in a minute.
Matt, I'll try and shoot you an email with some intel for ya.
Just remind me as this whole 30 thing is affecting my brain.
Thanks
Cliff

hit Braunig today for a couple of morning hours (9-11) for a chnage of pace and style of fishin.
Chunked shad under a cork and caught 3 - 19 inch hybrids , 2 more but undersized and one nice fat red at 31 inches.
Braunig seemed pretty good fishin today..saw lots of hybrids being caught and caught some good channels under a few birds on roosts early.
catch and release on everything today.
calm seas out there and not oo packed

This is probably a dumb question, but what are DK's?

He's referring to Danny King's punch bait.

Fished today with a great group of guys from SAFD, particulary Balcone Heights. They took the trip as a "crew" trip and all work together, you could tell by their cohesion and competition..lol.I really had a great day just being around them as they are a handful and made me laugh too much.
We fished shallow wind blwon points producing 70 fish up to 5 pdds on DK's under a slip bobber. All fish were for a fish fry at their Fire House. Lots of good box fish today and watching these gents get after was a ball.
I ended up going the extra mile for them and they videoed it to my surprise.
Steve threw a line and it hung on a willow limb but the bait was barely under the surface, I told him to leave it while I nettted another fish, well a big ol channel kitty wails on it and it's on. thinking the fish would swing the line off the limb, we watched the fight. Fish was hooked good but still hung up in the tree...fed it some slack to see if he would work free...nada.
So in I went..waded out to the tree and grabbed the fish and removed the line, didn't know Steve was video taping the ordeal till I was turned around and headed back to the boat..lol. Pretty funny and I guess won them over..lol.
Good times and alot fun, looking forward to fishing with them again soon
