I have a dirt bike that I just bought. It has been sitting and I just got it started today after tearing the carb aparts and some other small things, but when I put it in gear nothing happens. I know that it needs a new clutch cable so I put it in manually well absolutely nothing. Is there something you guys can tell me . Maybe something just simply needs to be cleaned or lubed . Anyways it is a suzuki 125 if that helps. Thanks

Sounds like it might just be stuck in the disengaged position... Or maybe you have a major gear problem, crank her up and kick her up into second gear and see what happens... BTW, be hangin on good when you do that...LOL

does it go through the gears just sitting still not running? have you pulled the side cover and engaged the clutch to see if the clutch is disengaging? if so i'm thinking the guy you bought it from might have known there was a gear problem, hense the reason for selling.

with a used bike you can never be sure all the parts are there never mind installed properly. you could go to bike bandit.com to see a fish of your parts and their order to double check. easy thing would be maybe to put in new clutch plates ( metal and fiber ) and new springs, may not be the problem but the bike could probably use them anyway.
