I was out fishin the colorado last saturday and i tied on a Tube for large mouth
i caut a 6 pound channel cat.
has this happend to anyone?
i dont normally fish Tubes but there a pretty versitile bait

Have caught cats on plastic worms and crankbaits. Usually in the Spring.

its not do oftin i catch cats with plastics
its happend to me about 3 times, i didnt think they were preditory

The channel cat is the only one that is not really a predator. They are more of an opportunistic scavenger. But, the blue cat and the yellow cat are VERY MUCH predators. And keeping that in mind will help you catch more of them. I'm not a big yellow cat fisherman, but, for blues you can follow the bait. If you can figure out where the shad are, the blue cats won't me far from them.

ON the contrary I have caught catfish on just about anything including crappie jigs..LOL

I was actually just about to chime in about that, too...one of my fav memories of learning how to fish was throwing a 1/4 oz crappie jig at Possum Kindom and having a 5 lb cat completely maul it! Good times!

I managed to catch a channel cat while fishing with a roadrunner at Gibbons the other day.
