Hey guys,
I've spent a few days out on the water and thought I'd let you know how they were biting.
Choke Canyon,
Thur March 15th
Things were kinda slow, I had a boat full. My Father, My Sister, her 2 boys and friend and my 2 sons. The weather was great, the fish we did end up with were all 2 to 5 pounds caught in deep water, all in the tree's. We did catch a couple in shallow water but the bite was a lot better in about 20'. all on punch bait fished straight over the side.
Fri, March 16th
Today was a lot better. I had three fellows from Kerrville out fishing, the cats were biting like crazy in the same area as the 15th. Again all on punch bait in about 20' of water, we caught fish from 4" long (lol) to about 6lbs. About 11am the bite just seemed to shut down after that it was kinda like the day before, we really had to look hard to find the active fish.
Lake Calaveras,
Sat March 16th
Calaveras was on. Same guys that were at choke on the 16th. They caught all their fish up near the banks in about 1'-2' of water all on punch bait. The fish were biting all day. They Were fishing rock covered banks, they would catch 10 or so cats then we moved on down to a new spot and would catch 10 or so more, then repeat.
Sun March 17th
4 Taxidermist on a Company trip. The weather Sun was not all that Great. It started out kinda rainy and a little cool, and it became more and more windy as the day went by. These guys also hauled in the fish, same technique as Sat., they caught a lot more dinks than the Sat trip so there were a lot of fish going back in the lake, all and all they probably caught more fish then we caught on Sat there was just a lot of Catch and release action going on, there's just not much meat on a 13" fish, they need to grow up a little.
Anyway, I hope this will help out anyone that plans on going out in the next few days, Good Luck guys.
