Please Build Me a Rod

I am looking for a Seeker glass 100 lb. rod, short curved Unibutt, all roller to fish stand up. I would like to take advantage of the Edwards Supply going out of business sale to keep the cost down, but don't have the time to roll my own. Not looking for anything fancy, just tough and dependable. No real rush. I would be more than happy to use someone relatively new to the craft that needs some experience, assuming they have a decent command of the basics and can produce a dependable rod.

Hey Ernest, I would be glad to build you a rod. Ist. are you in Texas? 2nd. I could most likely build it for about $400.00 +or- ( using inexpensive components ). 3rd. I require 1/2 down to start the job.
If you would like a really custom/professional job using Aftco guides and Aftco reel seat and unibutt (which I recommend) the cost will be more.
There are less expensive rod components available, but why compromise quality for less $$$$.
In short, whomever you get to build you a rod, the labor is the most expensive part.
From my experience of rodbuilding ( all 16 years or so ), you just cant beat the quality and dependability of Aftco rod components. If you fish the salt water like I do, the cheap stuff just don't last.
If you choose to use a Seeker blank, which is a good blank, just be sure to tell Seeker to ship the blanks in PVC tubes.
I took Seeker three times to get it right and get the unbroken blanks to me. I can't believe they sent them in cheap cardboard tubes on a bobtail truck. Sometimes the words just don't sink in.

Yes, I am in Houston Texas. Yes, I would desire good components. Strapped in with 30 lb.'s of drag is no time to learn the hard way why Aftco guides cost more than some no name brand. As such, I was excited to the see the big sale going on at Edwards Supply (but sorry to hear they are going out of business) as it presents an opportunity to build this type of rod at some savings. 1/2 up front is no problem.

I truly appreciate the hard work and long hours that go into building a rod. I have seen some real works of art. What I am interested in is good, solid components and construction, but nothing fancy (i.e. weaves, color fades, and the like).

Earnest, do you ever make it down to the Rockport area? If you want me to build you a rod, we need to sit down an discuss colors, design, length, action and exactly how much you want to spend.
I don't build those fancy checkered patterned weave foregrips. I build rods for fishing plain and simple. Your name on the rod comes with it.
I build rods for working people. the price I quoted you is at the far extreme of the ball field and will most likely be much less.
I will attempt to send you a couple of pics from my previous works.
I will accept a cashier' check, money order or cash. I will issue a reciept.
I do also collect state tax.
