Randy of www.thecatfishboat.com (http://www.thecatfishboat.com), my nephew Kevin and I fished Lake Conroe this morning and were blessed enough to catch a 11.6 lb blue catfish. Being a strong proponent of photographing and releasing (CPR) all catfish over 10lbs we did just that. We also took this opportunity to teach my nephew the importance of maintaining our lakes' fish population through the practice of CPR.

It is a fact that the TPWD's budget is not robust enough to satisfy the stocking programs of the past. By reading some of the TPWD public hearing minutes over the last couple of years you can find several account where guides have complained about the reductions in the stocking program. This hurts their business as well as deprives their customers of the chance of catching a trophy catfish.

I'm not here to argue just give my two cents and hopefully convince another angler the importance of Catch and Release.

Kevin being the person who did all the work on this fish gets the credit for getting it in the boat.

Type of fishing: jugging.
Water temp: 64degrees.
Area: west of the Harbor light house.
Bait: beef hearts

The catfish shot off like a rocket.

LETS DO IT AGAIN.
