I had to take my wife to the airport again today. I decided to take the day off and fish the afternoon. I had intended to go to Bedias. On the way to the airport we hit rain off and on. I did not want to go to bedias by myself and sit in the rain all afternoon, so I decided to just work Spring Creek. I went to Jesse Jones park to see what was happening. I spoke to one of the Park employees, we discussed Kayak put in areas and wading areas. After discussions with him, I decided to put my kayak in Spring Creek at Cypresswood drive. (As has been discussed on the board here, cannot put in and pull out at the park). Quite a little hill to contend with at the bridge, makes the hill at Bedias look like a boat ramp. Got in the water just before noon. Fished from the bridge down to where the first active creek comes in. I quit at 6 pm. I do not know exactly how many I caught, I suppose between 20-25. I kept 9 for a fish fry. I probably caught 2 that would have been under 10". The largest I caught was a pig, it was just over 17". I still need to get my Bedias fix. Maybe next week.
On an interesting note, in three different places I saw turkey tracks. I did not know there were wild turkeys that close to town.
And no, those are not my Keystone Light beer cans. It looked like someone had quite a party there and forgot to take their empties home.

Nice catch. I'm heading out on the Angelina tomorrow in my kayak to catch some white bass.

Have the whites made it to the shoals yet?

SaltH20Assassin, I do not know if the rain will muddy the creek. If it doesn't, I would walk in on Cypress Creek Trail, hit the beach. Wear waders, you can cross the creek in shallow spots and work a ways up the creek. Just fish the holes until you find fish. One spot I stopped (where I took the pictures) the creek was 24' deep. That is a deep hole for that small a creek. I was showing tons of fish in there too. You have to have some sort of boat to fish there, however.
I still want to hook up and make a trip. I will PM you next week.
Good Luck.
