What cal. shells did you get? 308 and 30-30 are just the right size for the slimline pens. I did make one with a 7mm but it is really too long. Just had enough for the top part to catch and hold. I think I could make a 30-06 work but it will not look right. Haven't tried a 270 yet.

I'll have to check..Chief Charlie sent me an assortment. The silver jacketed ones fit perfectly but i didn't check the caliber..and I dont have to polish them..LOL...Gonna give most of them a try at least.. Are you using the pre-cut barrels for inserts or do you have the 12 inch brass tubes and cut them?..Rocklers was out of the long ones...as usual..Think I can make do with the pre-cuts I've got on hand...Just waiting on some antlers Sid is laying on me...I'll keep you posted.....IF it works out. LOL

I use the brass tubes that come with the kit. They fit the 308. There is a little difference 1/64th of a inch difference which I have found to be ok. I have some of the nickel coated ones too. I like them but some of them need to be cleaned too. I polish all of mine then coat them wit CA glue. I just started doing that. They won't need to be repolished then.
If I can get the wife to take pictures I will do a picture walkthru doing one.

Thanks for the advice..Must admit I was a little hesitant on the first one when I started lowering the drill press onto the 'spent' cap..LOL.(think I read somewhere that sometimes a little powder might be left from the firing. LOL)..
Great Idea on the CA glue...I'll give that a try from the get-go....

I would make those for $30 each + shipping I gave several of them away before I figured out how to make the cartiage pens.
