My brother in law and I went to somerville this morning and caught a few fish. We only fished half the day. It was hit and miss we mainly caught the fish within a 50 yard area of the creek. I picked up 2 more further up and Jeff pulled one in down from where we caught them. I also got one kicker Hybrid wich was a blast on 8 lb. test and a light weight rod!! Here are the pics.

I was at Newmans today also. Managed only 8 amongst 4 people. Buddy also hooked up on a Hybrid but lost it at the bank try to lift it up. Nice catch.

I am a saltwater fisherman, but visit a buddy on Lake Palestine every month. We catch some of the stripers, and/or hybreds...To me that looks like a striper...how can you tell from that photo if it is a hybred or a striper?? I am not argueing with anyone, just an honest question?

Thanks in advance,

The big fish in the picture is 20 inches. Last time I checked the limit was 18" so i am pretty sure that you are way off on that one. The other one is not a hybrid it only had one tooth patch and i am sure that the last time that I looked it up that is the only way to tell the difference. I have heard about broken lines and shopes of heads. Those don't always work. I know that if there is one tooth patch it is a sand bass and if it has two it is a hybrid. Stripers have two as well.

the stripes on a hybrid will always be broken (not a straight line). if you want to get real detailed, they have two "tooth patches" on their toungue.....

if you ever catch what you think is a HUGE white bass (16"-22")...chances are its a Hybrid (18" is the minumum)

hope that helps! ;)

I used to go to Yegua Creek and fish for the Whites when I was at A@M years ago. Are they catching any there yet?
