I'm thinking about renting a place for a few days on Spring Break. Looking at Livingston first, but also considering Choke Canyon. If you know of any good rent homes/marinas on either lake it would be appreciated.

Choke is blessed not to have any lake houses or other major developments. You could consider camping on Choke at either the Calliham or South Shore parks (TPWD). Or stay in a motel in Three Rivers or Nolan Ryan's Bass Inn.

Thanks for the information. I had done a little research on Choke and couldn't find any lakeside stuff other than the two parks, so that makes sense. I've heard it's a nice lake.

Spring Break will coincide with the start of the catfish spawn on Choke. Trotliners will be hauling them in. Whites will be way up in the skinny water of the Frio River during March.

Oh yeah, LMB fishing should be prime, too.

i own a house on Livingston and dont even fish the lake anymore. It has been abandoned by The Trinity River Authority and Texas Parks and Wildlife regarding black bass and grass habitat. If you like crappy and white bass, there are a few there but.......... not my cup of tea. Go to Choke. Better fishing lake.
