Turning Sunday

My son and a friend of his came over Sunday. I got them out of the house and we made some bottle stoppers, pens and keychains. I didn't get any pictures cause my camera was in Galveston again. Wife left it at a friends house. I think my son and his friend have been sucked into the vortex of turning. They both had a ball turning. My son wanted a deer horn pen and keychain that matched. He turned them with me watching. His friend made a pen and keychain that matched from spalted hackaberry. He loved them. We then got to making bottle stoppers. I didn't have the right mandel for the bottle stoppers so they were kinda hard to turn. Used a 3/8 bolt cut off and put in the chuck. It worked. We did get 4 of them turned though. Finished with wipeon poly. They took all of them with them when they left so now the camera is back and nothing to take pictures of.
We had a good time too.



I did find out ,the hard way, that you don't fill a void with CA glue and turn on the lathe.Love my face shield.:)

There is an excelerator that you can spray on ca glue and reacts to dry immediately. Can turn on lathe in a matter of seconds using this spray. It works great. Don't use too much spray however or the ca glue kinda bubbles and makes it harder to sand down and finish.

Also....don't breath any of the puffs of smoke that may occur after you hit with the accelerator. It will set you on your tail end real fast! gb
