I am just beginning to fish Lake Houston more. I planning on fishing for white bass and drum. My question is what size rod should i get. I looked at a Berkley Cherry Stick at Academy with line wt. 4-12 medium action. Will this be immaculate enough for freshwater fishing?

I've used 6' Shimano Crucial rod for white bass and crappie the last 18 years, and love that feel, have had no problem handling the biggest fish. And i don't think you need that medium action for this little fish. look for the light action, use 8 or 10 lbs line.

BB,
I would be careful on what you buy. Please do yourself a favor and see whee it is made before you buy it and what king of warranty you get. If you want I can provide you with your own custom built rod personalized with your name and I assure you that it will be american made here in Houston. Just a thought if you have a chance to check our Freshwater selection. We have 18 different rods for freshwater.

Sincerely,
Ruben
