Skipped a Friday night trip to the Jetties, glad we did, do to the storm that passed trough Deer Park and moved south to Galveston. Settled on an early AM trip to West Bay. Area south of Causeway dirty/off color early AM, decided to fish Campbells and chase birds. Water was in good shape, lots of birds working but same song, jug trout, sandies, gafftop. Caught and released all the jug trout we wanted, used shrimp under corks, not alot of boat traffic, I guess everyone went to the jetties. Fished north side of Sand Island nothing, moved over to the north side of Pelican and caught 3 specks to 20". Wind started blowing and decided to call it a day at 10:30am.

A special "Thanks Pal" to the guy in a blue and white Bay stealth with five teenagers with him. We were working a school of birds, no other boats around, looked over my shoulder and here comes this guy, glides right through our drift between us and the birds. At least he was on his trolling motor, man want nerve or stupidity. I put my next cast 5' from his boat, that's how close this guy came to us. Pulled a 13" speck right out from under him, served him right!! Released the trout, put the rods up, spoke to him as diplomatic as I could, about courtesy on the water, eased out of the area on the trolling motor before firing up the big engine. Maybe he got the hint!!!

Yea,

I used to fire up the "Big" engine on those kind of guys until I figured out occaisionally the fish will stay put.
Still burns my butt.
I was on a point at the gut behind SLP Sun. AM, when my rod bends over just as a fool is passing by.
Sure enough they come in to anchor right where I'm working the current. I raise my hands ,shake my head, caught one more trout, and moved on after a few more minutes.
Just as i figured, when I came back through five of them are wading right on top of where the fish WERE!
I feel certain they caught nada.
Justice.

We still need to get together and fish.
I know a couple of holes in San Leon that were awsome last June. Coach Mills @ La Porte is on my butt to take him. Maybe a coaches trip.

Knuttdeep, it doesn,t do the B/P any good to get all worked up found that out many years ago. Its really gets to you though when you are all by your self and some guy just moves in. Heck, if he had just been a little patient I would have waved him in. Your right, we need to try and set up a trip. I am keeping the gym open this summer, hours 10-3, but shoot me an email some time and try and set it up. Have to report back on July 28, will be at coaching school July 26 & 27.
