Has Anyone fished Sheldon lake latley? I hear the fish kill a few months ago
had a big impact on the fishing this year and that it is not worth the trip.
Not only did TPWL kill most of the fish but, they killed most of the shad and
other bait fish that live in that lake. They are trying to control the weeds and
for that we thank them but, at what cost? The chemicals they use worked for a
quick fix on the south side of the lake but it looks like they neglected the north side of the lake witch at one time was a fishable area. Any comments?

Quit trying Sheldon a few years ago. When they first opened it - mid to late 50s I think - it was good fishing. My dad, brother and I would float across the deep channel that surrounds it and then wade fish. Lots of bass. Our state strewards haven't been too intersted in Sheldon the last 20 years or so.
They didn't do anything about a bad dam for years and let the water lilies get so thick the resourvor was useless for anything. Maybe, if they put a little effort into cleaning it up and restock it, it wil be worth spending some time at again.

yes it does close but i dont know the dates right off the top of my head...if i am not mistaken the close it to boats due to the mating of alligators..some of the females will get extremely aggressive...but dont quote me on that..
